Cloud dough (also known as moon dough or moon sand) is soft and mouldable and takes just two cheap ingredients to make, flour and oil. You can use any type of flour and any type of liquid oil but I choose to use vegetable oil so that it is taste safe.
It’s a great sensory dough, you can colour it with an oil or powder based food colour but we kept it plain to look like sand. If you’re not worried about the taste safe factor because it’s for older children you could add a few drops of essential oils.
Logan and Izzie absolutely loved it, they spent over two hours playing happily together with it this afternoon along with sea shells, Lanka Kade Pirate Ship, sea animals, Grimms waves and buried treasure.
OK recipe time; 2 cups of flour, 1/4 cup of oil and mix. Increase the quantities in this ratio until you have enough for your chosen activity.
Warning: this messy play gets everywhere and if it gets wet it’s even more difficult to clean up. I did our set up outside and made sure to clean out the tuff tray straight after.
